Feminine Hygiene
Unknown to most women, rayon and rayon-cotton blends are widely
used in the manufacture of tampons. Research findings have encouraged
the removal of synthetic materials (including rayon) from tampons
in an attempt to reduce health risks including menstrual-related
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). Dioxins, a potentially harmful by-product
of the chlorine bleaching process, have been found in tampons whereby
they can leach and collect in human fatty tissue. Even low levels
may be linked to cancer, endometriosis and immune supression.
